CHC Releases Paliashvili Georgian Sacred Chants

Our first professionally engineered recording and the first recording of the full Liturgy in Georgian.

We are very proud to announce the release of our first CD, Zakaria Paliashvili's Georgian Sacred Chants on the Liturgy of St. John Chrysostom! Recorded in June at St. Joseph's Catholic Church here on Capitol Hill, this recording features 17 tracks sung in Georgian as Paliashvili grouped them in his original setting. It represents the culmination of more than five years of work by Artistic Director Frederick Binkholder, the Chorale, and its members. Parker Jayne, founder of the Chorale, was instrumental in developing the performance edition of the 1909 score, including transliterations of the Georgian text, research into Paliashvili's life and work, and an article on the Georgian Sacred Chants for American Chorale Review. This effort would not have been possible without the leadership and dedication of both Fred and Parker.

Listen to Shen khar venahkhi (you are a vinyard).

The recording is available to purchase through CD Baby in digital download and full CD. The full CD includes a 32-page booklet with the full transliteration as well as program notes and gorgeous photos. You may also purchase through Amazon Music and iTunes.
