Celebrating the Music of Georgia with Carl Linich and the Georgian Embassy

We are very excited to share two events celebrating the music of Georgia this month featuring Carl Linich, scholar, teacher, and performer of traditional Georgian polyphonic singing.

Carl leads the Supruli Ensemble and Trio Kakvasia and performs with his sons as the Linich Family Trio. Trio Kakvasia was recently featured on the soundtrack for the Civilizations VI game. We are delighted that the Linich Family Trio will join us for a reception and performance at the Georgian Embassy, as well as a one-day workshop.

Paliashvili Tour Reception and Performance, 1/28, 6pm-8:30, Georgian Embassy

The Capitol Hill Chorale and the staff of the Embassy of Georgia to the United States warmly invite members of the Georgian and choral communities in Washington to attend a reception celebrating the Chorale's upcoming performance tour to Georgia this June. The evening centers around the music, food, and wine of Georgia and supports the Chorale's ongoing project performing the music of Zakaria Paliashvili, including our tour. The event will include a performance by the Linich Family Trio.

This is a ticketed event, and funds will support the tour's scholarship program. Tickets are $50 (available online only). Attendees will receive a code for a free ticket to our Return to Paliashvili concert June 1st or 2nd in DC

Georgian Music Workshop with Carl Linich, 1/26, 1-4pm, Lutheran Church of the Reformation Parish Hall

The workshop will focus on the unique singing style of Georgian folk and sacred music and will significantly inform our performance in June. Carl will lead participants through the rich history of Georgian polyphony, vocal exercises, language and pronunciation, and more. The workshop is open to the DC Choral Community. Contact [email protected] for information on how to join.

We hope to see you at one or both of these events.
