Row On: A Virtual Concert

Featuring performances of American music with a focus on the Shaker tradition.

Join us Friday, July 2 at 7:00 pm, for the premiere of our virtual concert: Row On.

Perfect for celebrating an early Fourth of July, Row On will feature virtual performances of American music with a focus on the Shaker tradition. Among the repertoire featured are marching songs, sailing songs, and songs of resilience and determination. Insight and historical context will be offered by Brother Arnold Hadd, one of three living Shakers at the only active Shaker community in Sabbathday Lake, Maine. Our composer-in-residence, Kevin Siegfried, has been working in the archives at Sabbathday Lake and collaborating with Brother Arnold to document and record songs that have fallen out of oral tradition. Brother Arnold is an energetic storyteller and speaker, and this performance offers a rare opportunity to hear directly about a vast and little known American musical tradition.

Because of size limitations, the concert is limited to 500 attendees, so be sure to reserve your space here on Ti.To. While we have suggested a ticket price of $15 to attend, this is a pay-what-you-can event and all proceeds go directly to the Chorale. We appreciate anything you can give to support CHC while we all navigate the effects of the coronavirus together and begin our return to in-person events and rehearsals.

Like our previous virtual concert, Songs Both Great and Small, this performance will take place via Zoom Webinar. This will allow you all to chat with one another via the Zoom chat, ask Fred and Kevin questions using the Q&A function, and attend the event live with us, but you won't be able to "see" one another or use your video or audio to talk to each other. You will receive the link to attend after you register for your ticket here on Ti.To. You will also receive a YouTube link to the performance if you'd like to watch the performance clips on a bigger screen, but that video will not include any of the live discussion taking place on Zoom Webinar.

Reserve your virtual "seat" at this link.
